It’s my Birthday!

It’s my birthday today! I also weighed in today, and I have a loss. I now weigh195 lbs, so I lost 6 lbs in the first week. Apparently this is normal for men on Weight Watchers in the first week. I would assume that the loss will now trim back, although I lost 2 points on my daily point allotment.

Making it through day 5

Everything is going well, although I do notice that I’m not quite filled at meals. I’ve been eating more fruit and taking the single point hit here and there. I sneaked on the scale the other day, and I’m unofficially losing weight (4 lbs). So, who knows. I think I lose points daily as I lose weight, luckily we only weigh in weekly.

Ordered some new furniture for the porch the other day, and it all came in today. After I finished mowing the lawn and doing some other chores around the house, I headed over to Sears and picked it all up. After some assembly, it was all setup. The furniture is a bit bigger than what we had before, we opted for the coffee table setup with 2 chairs and a love seat. We didn’t do enough dinners on the porch to justify getting a normal table out there, plus this feels a bit more relaxed.

Day 2 of the Diet

I didn’t get hungry from Day 1, probably due to the holiday weekend and family being in town. This always adds some buffer calories. I started to notice the smaller calorie count today. It was about 3pm when I started to get overly hungry. I decided to blow 3 points on a partial bowl of soup, was supposedly hearty soup. It seemed to do the trick. I was left 11 points for dinner which were quickly eaten up by some chicken, red potatoes and mixed vegetables. 1 point left for the evening, and I spent it on a small red delicious apple. Enough to get me through the evening. I did get my 30 minutes of vigorous exercise in, so in two days this fatty earned 10 activity points, of which I haven’t spent any.

My exercise plan includes keeping my heart rate going at a high aerobic level. I run up to our clubhouse where we have a decently equipped small gym. I do 3 reps of 12 each of 5 machine weight exercises for upper body (I don’t know the official names but something like chest press, butterfly, pull down, push down, and curls). I follow that up with 15-20 minutes at a fast pace on the elliptical machine. All the time keeping this fat boy sweating to talk radio.

I also took some time tonight and cleaned up the gallery views a bit with some CSS. I think it looks a little better. I may not even bother with lightbox, we’ll see.

Starting to Diet

I’m afflicted by some sympathy weight due to our third child being born, so I’ve decided that I need to get back into shape and lose the baby fat. Ok, maybe it’s not baby fat, but I would like to lose some weight. I’ve decided to try Weight Watchers without attending or joining.

We have all the guides, cook books and slide rules due to previous diets by the wife (other two child births), and since she’s working off the real baby weight once again, I get to work off my lazy weight. I started yesterday and clocked in at 201 lbs. Which for my height would put my BMI around 28, so I’m officially fat. I’ll keep this updated with some non-technical stuff with my progress.
